By literally being placed in the middle of the action, you become fully immersed in the game for auditory situational awareness, which translates into a common tactical advantage. The sound control built into the headphones has been redesigned in V2. This allows you to quickly adjust the volume and fine-tune the sound for each channel. Who is it for?
When the headset was launched in 2012, Razer billed the Tiamat 7.1 as the first true 7.1 gaming headset, but there was virtually no 7.1 content using the new technology being used at the time.
But Razer realized that he might even have created a new market by asking questions you didn’t even know existed. Sick people surprise you and want to know where the enemy is shooting at your favorite sniper? Then it should work!
At that time, and yet at the time the updated V2 was released, the price for many players was exorbitant, almost $200 or so. Now that 7.1 technology is more established, this is no longer the case and you can buy a pair for less than half. For the best surround sound, however, a 7.1-channel sound card is required. 5.1 The surround sound card works just like the standard stereo inputs, but you miss the essence of the product – extra drivers in the headphones – so why bother?
Is Razer Tiamat 7.1 V2 suitable for computer players? With some of the best bass we’ve ever heard in gaming headphones, incredible sound quality and 7.1 surround sound, they’re the perfect complement to your PC gaming setup. But it’s really a value proposition.
If you are using an older motherboard or simply not satisfied with the current sound settings, a 7.1 sound card is still a good investment. And once, or if you own this sound card, the Razer Tiamat 7.1 V2 will meet your needs. But it all depends on how seriously you play and/or how the real (albeit virtual) three-dimensional compelling sound contributes to your enjoyment and sensations.
What do we like about the Razer Tiamat 7.1 V2?
Razer has developed an adjustable headband for extra comfort. Under the hard plastic that supports the earphone tips, the suspension system connects the soft rubber and leather inner tube. The same leather plastics that compensate for the wide and tight helmets that remain comfortable but do not warm up or sweat after long play sessions. Sealed ear cushions protect against environmental and wildlife noise.
The design of the Razer Tiamat 7.1 V2 is robust and reliable. Plastic is a light but high quality material, and the outside of the earphone is transparent so you can see the profile and position of each speaker without wearing it. And if you don’t want others to do it when you do, there are earplugs that are attached with magnetic connectors. The Green Razer logos light up on the underside of the cups when used.
Despite its appearance, you pay for the 10 individual riders built into the helmet, making it a 7.1 helmet. There are two subwoofers, two front speakers, two centre speakers, two side speakers and two rear surround speakers, one in each cup, to give you maximum sound effect for your favourite games.
Two low-frequency pilots spread the explosions and the fire. The flat bass sounded powerful, undistorted. The different noise frequencies of the different actions and vehicles were clear and loud. The additional speakers provide individual bass, midrange and treble sound with great resonance for the best 7.1-channel headphone experience.
We appreciate that the tree’s microphone can be hidden invisibly in the left ear. It’s easy to insert and remove if you’re just listening and not talking during playback. It also features a flexible earpiece that allows you to place the microphone exactly where you want it when you’re in the room.
But the volume control was probably our favorite feature. The Razer Tiamat 7.1 V2 is not checked. You have an integrated control box between the headphones and the analog audio connections.
It is approximately the same size as A4 paper and consists of a volume control, a rocker switch to switch between the headphones speakers and three buttons – one to mute the microphone, one to switch between the speakers and headphones and one to switch between the 7.1 and 2.0 output modes. Each volume level can be set independently; the illuminated rotary control around the volume control indicates each level separately. The volume control also serves as a large mute button.
There is a lot of flexibility and freedom. We’ve found a nice place for every environment. We especially liked the loudspeaker and the headphone switch. You can connect the supplied speaker input button via the micro-USB connector on one side of the camera. All you have to do is connect the speakers and you can automatically switch between headphones during the game, depending on whether the accuracy of the sound is a clear advantage in the game or not.
Another innovation in the complete line of Razer helmets is the use of a woven cable that connects the helmets to the PC. Durable and tough, but generous in length, it is less confusing than its cheaper plastic counterparts.
What we don’t like about the Razer Tiamat 7.1 V2
The installation is cumbersome. Five 3.5 mm connectors must be connected, each corresponding to the corresponding driver: Front (green), center and subwoofer (orange), side (gray), back (black), and microphone (pink) The USB port powers the volume control panel.
For analogue surround headphones, you need a sound card that supports surround sound from at least 5.1 and ideally 7.1 channels with separate connections for the front, rear and subwoofer. If you do not have a surround sound card, you can use it with a standard stereo input by turning off the surround sound function on your headphones, but you will pay too much for a function you do not use.
The headphone’s overall sound impression was excellent due to the number of built-in speakers, but this same feature prevents the full potential of the headphone’s sound quality from being achieved. Recording so many speakers creates a very limited space, resulting in speakers smaller than 5.1 headphones and a sound quality that can be inferior to that of high-end stereo headphones with well-balanced speakers.
Of course it reacts to sound through the small speakers, but we found that the sound of the Razer Tiamat 7.1 V2 was crystal clear, but not loud enough. The highlights were a little rough, and in general the sound could benefit from a little more heat.
At least, according to Razer, because the USB ports on my motherboard have a grounding problem, there was a nasty buzz. We had to use an external USB adapter with a USB port that powers the volume control to eliminate the noise. What’s more, while we appreciated the device’s ability to adjust each volume level individually, we would have done even more if we had been able to store profiles.
The placement of additional drivers also makes the helmet size rather cumbersome. And although they are of general use, they are clearly visible through fixed microphones when they appear and disappear.

Review overview
The Razer Tiamat 7.1 V2 is well designed, well built and a bit unusual. It deserves its name as the first of its kind; the first real 7.1 gaming headset.
But you need a 7.1 sound card to exploit its potential. But you still can’t compare it to a surround speaker. Of course, that’s not exactly his purpose. And what it does is great; it delivers clear, crisp sound and has a multi-function volume control, connections for external speakers and convenient mute functions.
Overall, the Razer Tiamat 7.1 V2 is extremely comfortable, works very well and offers almost the same surround sound we’ve heard in every headset.
