8 Best Laptops For Nursing Students: Top Picks (2020)

I assume you just enrolled or graduated from nursing school. You think you need one of the best laptops for the nurses to perform a number of important tasks, such as research and taking notes, etc.

If that feeling brought you here, you’ve come to the right place.

I will tell you which laptop is best for you and which laptops you should ignore when choosing your own laptop.

I looked at a list of 50 to 70 laptops and selected only 8. In this recording I will talk about eight of the best laptops for student nurses that offer real value for money.

Let’s get going.

Top 8 Laptops for medical students in 2020

1. ASUS chrome-plated book sheets

Nowadays chrome books are becoming an everyday item for every student, that’s why I offer this good laptop to a student nurse.

When you first hear the word Chromebook, let me tell you that this is no ordinary laptop as you would expect.

It does not work on Windows or OS X. It runs on an operating system called Chrome OS, which was developed by Google for Chromebooks.

I just want to tell you two things about Chromebook, and I’ll tell you about Asus Chromebook Flip.

What does Chromebook do?

The operation of Chromebooks mainly depends on the availability of an Internet connection to perform a task, such as the use of Google Chrome, Gmail, Google Drive, etc.

What can’t Hrom-Book do?

You may not install third-party games and software such as Microsoft Word/Exel, Photoshop, etc. on your computer. The Chrome Web Store makes it easy to find replacements for third-party software such as Google Docs and Adobe Lightroom.

If you’re worried about using third-party software, that’s good news. You can now run any Android application on some limited Chromebook applications, and Asus Chromebook flip is one of them.

Okay. Okay. Okay, okay. Enough about the definition of Chromebook, and if you’re still in doubt, you should read this Laptopmag guide to clarify the situation.

Let’s talk about the Asus Chromebook Flip.

The Chromebook is generally cheaper than other laptops, but this is not the case with Asus Chromebook flipflops. Asus has estimated this laptop at around $500 because of its excellent build quality and excellent performance.

The body’s all metal, and you won’t find any plastic outside the body. The laptop is equipped with a Full HD touch screen with a resolution of 1920×1080. This display is suitable for indoor use, but is not the best display for outdoor use such as in the grounds, parks, etc.

The screen has a score of 75% RGB and 58% Adobe RGB. As the name of the notebook itself indicates, you can flip it over at any angle. You can use the laptop in 360 degree mode, for example in tablet or notebook mode.

The memory has 64 GB memory and 4 GB RAM. The processor in the Chromebook is an Intel Core m3. You can easily run multiple tabs on Chrome, open Google documents or perform another task at the same time, you will have no problem multitasking on this machine.

This Chromebook weighs only 1.2 kg and is easy to take anywhere, especially from home to school/college. A lightweight laptop is always a good thing for students who care for the sick.

The choice of port, I’d say, isn’t very good. There are two USB C connectors (one on each side) and a microSD card slot. The keyboard and trackpad on this laptop are normal, but what I liked about the keyboard is that it has a backlight that is useful when using the laptop late at night.

The 39Wh Chromebook Flip Battery can easily run for up to 8 hours on a single charge. It’s the most important thing for any student, I’d say. You need a laptop with a durable battery to go to school or university without worrying about the battery.

2. MacBook Air

If you have a good budget of about $1,000, I’d say MacBook Air is one of the best options for you. If you’re looking for cheaper laptops, don’t worry, scroll down this page and you’ll find many interesting options for you.

The design of the MacBook Air hasn’t changed much in a few years, but I’d say the design will be decent in 2019. One of the main problems that has not been solved in 7 years is its outdated presentation. It has the same 13.3-inch LED display with a resolution of 1440×900.

The laptop’s screen, okay, but the angles are really bad. But there’s good news for Apple. Rumour has it that Apple may launch a new, cheaper version of the 13-inch MacBook Air with retinal display at the next WWDC event in June 2018. If you want the best display on MacBook Air, wait.

Even with an OR screen, the MacBook Air has some good points. I’m going to talk about two important advantages, because I don’t want to miss my long positions.

1. Productivity: This laptop doesn’t have the latest processor. It comes with an Intel Core 5 with 8GB LPDDR3 RAM. As you probably already know, MacBook Air runs on Mac OS X, which is more optimized than many Windows laptops, and gives you a smoother OS X experience.

This laptop is available in 2 versions, namely with 128GB or 256GB SSD. Both options work very well. You must choose the option that suits you.

2. Battery life : As I said before, every student needs a durable battery, and the MacBook Air works longer than the Chromebook Flip on top.

The apple says it can take up to 12 hours, but you know what the surprise here is? The notebook store confirmed that the MacBook Air has been operating for 14 hours during a battery charge test. That’s why I added MacBook Air to that list. This laptop can easily be used all day at school/college for a fee.

It should also be mentioned that the MacBook Air weighs only 1.36 kg. It’s a bit heavier than the Chromebook above, but in general it’s a very light laptop, I’d say.

The advantages of

  • A solid performance.
  • You can expect at least 10-11 hours of battery life.
  • Lightweight, 3 pounds.

Summary of specifications :

  • Screen size: 13.3 inches.
  • Storage : 128/ 256GB SSD.
  • BARAN: 8 GB DDR3 OF MEMORY.
  • Processor: Intel Core i5 of the 5. Generation
  • Graphic card : Integrated.
  • The operating system: Mac OS X.
  • Weight! Weight! Weight! Weight! Weight! Weight! Weight! Weight! Weight! Weight! Weight! Weight! Weight! Three pounds.

3. Dell XPS 13

The Dell XPS range is no secret because everyone knows it’s a premium Dell product line. The Dell XPS 13 I’m going to talk about is a late 2017 model, but with the latest Intel processor, the 8th generation Quad-Core i5-8250U.

There are not many changes in this notebook, except for the CPU. This is a slightly cheaper version of the XPS 13, which costs about $900. I won’t recommend the latest Dell XPS 13 9370 model, released in early 2018, because it costs twice as much as the XPS 13 9360.

The XPS 13 is equipped with a 13.3-inch matte touch screen. The smaller the borders, the more attractive they are, and this is one of the main features of this great notebook. The screen offers good color contrast and the viewing angles on this laptop are, I would say, excellent.

You’ll find aluminum in the laptop bag and carbon fiber in the keyboard and touchpad area. The quality of the assembly is solid with this machine and there is nothing to complain about.

In terms of memory, Dell offers 128GB SSD M.2 and 8GB DDR3 RAM for easy multitasking. The performance of this machine is the highest, and the latest Core i5-8250U is a nice improvement over the previous generation, Intel’s Core i5-7200U.

The keyboard and trackpad are among the best in the industry. Choosing a port for this laptop is not bad. There are 2 USB 3.0, 1 USB Type-C (Thunderbolt 3) and a normal size SD card slot. Another useful feature of this XPS 13 is a fingerprint reader to unlock the screen. It wasn’t mentioned on Amazon, but the buyers still appreciate it.

The Dell XPS 13 9360 also weighs the same as the Asus Chromebook Flip described above, 1.2 kg (2.7 lbs). You can easily carry this laptop in your school or university bag.

And finally, battery life. According to the telegraph, the battery life can be as long as 12 to 15 hours, but I would say that we can assume an average battery life of 10 hours. 10 hours of battery life in a car as powerful as this one, I’d say that’s very good Dell work.

Overall, the Dell XPS 13 is without a doubt one of the best laptops for nursing students.

The advantages of

  • The quality of the building is excellent.
  • An amazing spectacle, infinite.
  • Long battery life.

Disadvantages

  • For some students it’s a bit expensive.

Summary of specifications :

  • Screen size: 13.3 inches.
  • Storage : 128 GB SOLID-STATE DRIVE.
  • BARAN: 8 GB DDR3 OF MEMORY.
  • Processor: Intel quad-core i5-8250U.
  • Graphic card : Intel HD Graphics 620.
  • The operating system: Window 10.
  • Weight: 2.7 pounds.

4. Asus Vivo book 14

This is the Asus Vivo book – a cheap laptop from Asus that costs about $400. According to the specifications and quality, this is one of the best laptops for a student nurse.

The Vivobook is equipped with a 14-inch Full HD-TN screen that is very sharp and bright, but will not surprise you with its viewing angles. It’s the third laptop on the list that doesn’t have a better angle. If the angles don’t bother you too much, I’d say it’s a good option for you.

The bottom of the laptop is made of plastic, but the lid and the keyboard/trackpad part are made of aluminium. Just so you know: A fingerprint reader is located at the top corner of the trackpad. It’s pretty rare to see a laptop with a fingerprint scanner on such a budget.

The laptop is equipped with 128GB eMMC memory and 4GB DDR3 RAM. The eMMC is quite slow compared to the SSD, but a student nurse can’t find the face of performance if you don’t push it to the limit. The Vivobook is equipped with the Intel Pentium N4200 processor, which is more intended for notebooks in the lower price range than for advanced users. You have to think about it.

The Asus Vivobook 14 weighs only 3.3 pounds, which I think is quite portable. The following connectors are available on this notebook: 1 USB 2.0, 1 USB 3.0, 1 USB Type-C (not Thunderbolt), HDMI and a standard SD card slot.

One of the best things about this laptop is the battery. Asus says the battery can last up to 12 hours, but this is not 100% accurate. According to Lon TV, the battery can run for 9 to 10 hours, which is unusual for a $400 laptop. If you are looking for a laptop with a durable battery at this price, I would say it is the perfect choice for you.

If you want more information about this latpon, you should read this interview by Philip K. Cody on the Amazon, which is quite profound and useful.

Look here for more information:

The advantages of

  • A building worthy of the name.
  • It’s quite portable.
  • Exceptional battery life.

Disadvantages

  • The angles aren’t very good.
  • The system will fail if you take it to an extreme level.

Summary of specifications :

  • Screen size: 14 inches.
  • Storage : 128 GB EMMS.
  • BARABAN: DRUM DDR3 OF 4 GO.
  • Processor: Intel Pentium N4200 processor.
  • Graphic card : Integrated.
  • The operating system: Window 10.
  • Weight: 3.3 pounds.

5. Acer E15 Spacers

If you’re looking for cheap, inexpensive devices with a price/performance ratio of $400, I bet no other laptop comes close to this beast. In fact, this Acer Aspire E15 is only $350 and is the best-selling traditional notebook on Amazon.

The design and appearance of the laptop is not dazzling. The design is simple and justifies the price. The laptop is made of plastic and doesn’t look cheap. It has a 15.6-inch Full HD screen that offers good colour contrast and good viewing angles.

This laptop comes with a 1 TB 5400 rpm hard disk drive and 4 GB DDR4 RAM. You may think this cell phone will be slow, but it’s not. This laptop works pretty well, but if you expect better performance from this device, you can fix it quickly. You can add an extra 8GB of RAM to the open slot on this laptop. It’ll only cost you about $100, and it’s worth it.

Pay attention: There’s a more expensive version of this laptop that costs just over $200. If you have a budget of about $600, I strongly recommend this option because it comes with 256GB SSD, 8GB RAM and GeForce MX150 graphics. You can find this option here. It’s probably one of the best laptops under $700 you can get.

This notebook weighs 2.4 kg, which is quite heavy and difficult to carry on the road. Bringing a laptop to school/university may not be the best choice for you. Acer has provided backlighting in this cheap, rarely seen laptop.

Acer claims that the battery life of this laptop is 12 hours, but Laptopmag confirms that you can easily use 8 hours of battery life while surfing the Internet and other ordinary users at home. A $350 laptop with an 8-hour battery life is a pretty amazing thing, I’d say.

I am really impressed with the quality of this laptop, and I would recommend this better laptop to any nurse who works on it.

Watch this video for more information:

The advantages of

  • Storage : 1TB 5400 RPM.
  • RAM: 4 GB DDR4 from the ram.
  • Processor: Intel Core i3-7100U Processor

6. Acer Chromebook 15

If you’re on a tight budget and need a laptop for basic research, the Acer Chromebook 15 is the best choice because it costs less than $250.

The design of the laptop is not exactly first class, but it is made of plastic that is very durable, and at this price you can’t complain about the design of the plastic. The screen is a 15.6-inch IPS panel, which is very good and has good viewing angles.

The storage space of this laptop is 16GB SSD, which is not enough for most people, but it is a Chromebook, and it can easily do a lot of things with this 16GB of data. If you are worried about the memory on this laptop, you should get the Asus Chromebook Flip I mentioned earlier in this message.

The Acer Chromebook 15 comes with 4GB of DDR4 memory and an Intel Celeron Dual-Core 3205U. The performance on this Chromebook is phenomenal. It can handle multitasking without any problems. The notebook is equipped with dual-band 802.11ac wireless technology, which works exceptionally well without connection problems.

If you are receiving this booklet for educational and entertainment purposes, this is good news for you. The speakers on this laptop are powerful enough for a $250 laptop. I wasn’t talking about the speakers of one of the laptops, but I have to say that this laptop has some pretty impressive speakers for this price.

This Chromebook is not very light as it weighs 2.17 kg (4.8 pounds). You can carry it in your bag and take it to school, but it will be a bit difficult for some students. The gate selection in this chrome book was bad. This unit is equipped with USB 2.0, SD card reader, USB 3.0 and HDMI.

The battery life of this laptop really impressed me. You can easily get 5-6 hours on a single charge for low or medium usage. I have to say that it really is a valuable Chromebook, suitable for people who don’t have a good budget.

The advantages of

  • Cheap and better.
  • Decent work.
  • 5-6 hours battery life.

Summary of specifications :

  • Screen size: 15.6 inches.
  • Storage : 16 GB SOLID-STATE HARD DRIVE.
  • RAM: 4 GB DDR4 from the ram.
  • Processor: Intel Celeron Dual Core 3205U
  • Graphic card : Intel HD Graphics
  • The operating system: Chrome O.S.
  • Weight: 5.2 pounds.

7. ASUS ZenBook UX330UA-AH55

If you are looking for a cheap, lightweight, powerful and stylish ultrabook, the Asus Zenbook UX330UA-AH55 is the best choice.

The Asus Zenbook competes with the HP Envy and Dell XPS 13 because these 3 notebooks have similar specifications, but the Zenbook will save you at least $100 out of your pocket.

The Asus Zenbook UX330UA-AH55 is an all-metal notebook with excellent workmanship and impressive design. The screen is a 13.3-inch Full HD IPS screen with a matte finish. The screen is clear enough, but it should have been better. The sRGB advertising rating is 96%, while the subscription’s RGB rating is 75%.

This laptop also belongs to the category that does not have the highest viewing angles.

The notebook is equipped with an extremely fast 256GB SATA M.2 SSD. This notebook’s SSD boots up in less than 10 seconds and performs every task smoothly. The read and write speeds of the SSD are 530 MB and 504 MB respectively. If you want even better performance, you can upgrade your DSS.

The 8GB DDR3 memory is easy to use and your notebook is equipped with the latest 8th generation Intel processor. generation, i.e. Intel i5-8250U. This is the same processor available in the Dell XPS 13 mentioned above. This processor is able to perform certain heavy tasks without problems. You can edit about 1080P videos and play old games like League of Legends and CS:GO.

Pay attention: This laptop was released in early 2016, and in 2017 it was equipped with an 8th generation Intel processor. The model of the seven. Generation is still available on Amazon, but it will cost you 200 dollars more than the new version. Don’t take the old one and buy a new one instead and save $200.

Another advantage of this laptop is that it is extremely light and weighs 1.17 kg. Asus took care of all the necessary holes in that car. You will find 2 USB 3.0, 1 USB Type-C, an SD card reader and a mini HDMI port.

The distance between the keyboards is 1.5 mm, they are very easy to select on the keyboard. The keyboard is backlit and has a choice of 3 levels. The glossy trackpad works very well, but it is no better than the XPS 13. Asus offered an additional feature, a fingerprint in the trackpad area, which is always nice to have on any laptop.

The battery life of this Zenbook is excellent. Justin has confirmed that you can easily manage 11 hours of battery life. 11 hours of battery life on a powerful laptop like this is, I’d say, pretty impressive.

If you need more information about this Zenbook, please read the full review in DigitalTrends. In general, I would make this good laptop for any nursing student with a reasonable budget.

The advantages of

  • Quick introduction.
  • Lightweight and portable.
  • More than 10 hours of battery life.

Disadvantages

  • The angles should have been better.

Summary of specifications :

  • Screen size: 13.3 inches.
  • Storage : 256 GB SSD.
  • RAM: 8 GO DDR3
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-8250U.
  • Graphic card : There’s no mention of it.
  • The operating system: Window 10.
  • Weight: 2.6 pounds.

8. Microsoft Surface Pro 4

You may already know that this is clearly not a budget or a cheap laptop. In case you haven’t heard: The Surface Pro line is a line of high-end Microsoft laptops that are perfect for every student, that’s why I chose this laptop here.

Surface Pro 4 is a 2-in-1 touch screen laptop that is lightweight and easy to carry. Surface Pro features a magnesium housing that is durable, which really justifies the price.

It has a 12.3-inch screen with a resolution of 2736 x 1824 pixels. The screen is very bright and has an excellent viewing angle. The pixel per inch (PPI) of this screen is 267, which is quite impressive.

You can view this laptop from any angle using the standard Microsoft has provided for this laptop. This will be really useful material, especially for a student like you when you are recording in class.

Another useful object offered in this notebook is the surface pen, which allows you to take notes and draw all kinds of things. There are captions such as a click on the back of the pen opens a note and a double click takes a screenshot. These labels can be particularly useful for a student.

If you have most writing tasks, I’ve suggested some good notebooks for writers, look if you’re interested.

Pay attention: This Surface Pro 4 model is an older model. The latest model of Surface Pro is not included with the Surface Pen. You have to buy it separately. Don’t forget this when you buy.

The performance of this machine is amazing. It is equipped with 256 GB SSD and 8 GB RAM. You will not have the latest processor on this machine, but you will be able to use the 6th generation Intel Core i5. The company’s generation can carry out any task perfectly without any problems. The SSD has a reading speed of 608 MB and a writing speed of 113 MB.

One of the things I don’t like about Surface Pro 4 is the fact that it requires a separate type of cover (keyboard and trackpad). It’ll cost you about 100 bucks. There is no doubt about the quality of the standard coating. It’s great and works pretty well, but selling it separately is not a good idea.

The type of cover has 5 to 6 levels of backlighting, which is of course a good feature.

It weighs only 0.7 kg without the Surface Pro 4 case and 1.04 kg with the Surface Pro case. No other laptop on this list weighs as little as Surface Pro 4.

The battery life of this Surface Pro 4 is quite average. You have 5 to 6 hours to perform simple tasks, such as Word / Excel, Chrome, etc. If you play certain games, you have about 2 hours of autonomy.

The advantages of

  • Thin and light.
  • It’s a good representation.
  • Ideal for a nursing student.

Disadvantages

  • Oh, my darling.
  • The type of cover must be obtained separately.

Summary of specifications :

  • Screen size: 12.5 inches.
  • Storage : 256 GB SSD.
  • RAM: EIGHT GIGS.
  • Processor: Intel Core i5 (6th generation).
  • Graphic card : Intel HD graphics.
  • The operating system: Windows 10 Pro.
  • Weight: 2.3 pounds.

Purchase guide for nurses:

I’ve mentioned a lot of good laptops for nurses. But if you haven’t found your perfect choice yet. You can discover it for yourself by following this little guide.

1. Productivity

Storage

This is a very important aspect of any laptop that you should check before purchasing. You should never buy a laptop with a hard drive unless you have a very small budget. If you have a budget in excess of $400 or $500, you should always carry SSDs with your laptop. It runs much faster than a normal hard drive.

You should not choose a laptop with an SSD of less than 128 GB, except for Chromebooks. 128GB of data is enough to install some important software and store some of your personal media files, such as audio and video files, photos, and so on. You can always get more than 128 GB, but don’t go under it.

Editor in Chief

Look at Core i5 processors if you have a budget. It runs faster than the Core i3 processor and doesn’t cost you much. If you have a minimum budget, then the main i3 laptop is for you. I’m not offering you a laptop with an i7 processor core for the nursing school because it’s more expensive and a nursing student might not need a laptop with this performance.

If you get a laptop for multiple purposes, such as nursing school, entertainment, games, etc., you can use it for different purposes. Otherwise I advise you to switch to an i3 or i7 kernel and save your money.

RAM

You certainly shouldn’t choose a laptop with 2 GB RAM, because it can’t handle many things at the same time. Always use 4 GB of RAM and it won’t cost you much. My personal choice for a cheap laptop with 4 GB RAM is the Acer Aspire E15. Again: Never look for a 2 GB RAM model.

2. Portability

Whatever happens, every student wants a lightweight, portable laptop, and that’s what I will advise students who care for the sick. 6 of the 8 laptops on this list are lightweight and portable. You can choose one of these options.

An ideal weight for laptops of different sizes,

1. 10-12.5 = Up to 2.7 lbs (1.22 kg)

2. 13″= Up to 3 pounds (1,36 kg)

3. 14-15 = up to 5 pounds (2,26 kg)

Of course a light weight is not mandatory for every student, but it is for your own good. It is lighter than a laptop and easier to take to school or university.

3. Battery life

This should be the most important aspect of a notebook for a student who brings his lucky boy to school or university. You should never buy a laptop with a battery life of less than 6 hours. If you don’t want to take your laptop to school/college and use it at home, you may have no problem.

On this list, MacBook Air has the best battery life, 12 hours. You should choose if you prefer a battery with a longer service life.

4. The operating system:

Both Mac OS and Windows are suitable for nursing students. You should ask your teacher for advice on the software you need and the operating system that best suits your needs. And based on that, you can make a decision.

I won’t discuss which operating system is best for you. Both Windows and Mac OS have their own advantages and disadvantages. MacBooks are usually expensive, but they offer different performance while you can easily get a Windows laptop at a very low price.

If you can afford a MacBook Air or a MacBook Pro, I suggest you choose one without hesitation, otherwise you can always choose a good Windows computer.

So these are very important things to consider before buying a laptop for a nursing student. There are many other aspects that deserve attention, but they are not as important as those mentioned above. If you are interested in these additional features, you can find them here.

1. Display type – IPS VS TN panel (IPS is better in most cases)

Screen size… It depends on your choice.

2. Graphic card… If you are a fanatic gamer, you should get a laptop with a special graphics card. None of these laptops have a special graphics card. You should read my article here where I told you about the best gaming laptops with a special graphics card.

Conclusion:

If you’ve been here before the end, you’ve certainly got the right idea when choosing a laptop for a nursing student. Nowadays, every student is busy learning and does not have the time to study the purchased material properly. That’s why I wrote this article to help her choose the right laptop.

These are the top 8 laptops for nurses in 2019. I will try to update the article as soon as I find another valuable laptop. If you have any suggestions, don’t hesitate to let us know.
