The Vivo Y20 has a pleasant and elegant design in its price range. The quality of the construction is impressive and can easily attract attention. But for a reliable brand, you have to compromise on performance.

A few days ago, Vivo introduced its new Vivo Y20 household or low speed smartphone in Pakistan. The phone is based on a series of Y-series devices offered to young people. Recently we received the new Vivo Y20. That’s all you need to make a decision about your next smartphone.

Vivo is very well established in Pakistan, as the company has managed to establish its brand value in the country. It is therefore not surprising that the company has a proven track record in research and development and has launched many innovations in the smartphone industry. The company has a portfolio of high-quality, high-quality IQOO and NEX branded equipment. In Pakistan, however, it focused on the mid-market and tax segments.

The Vivo Y20 is another low-budget or lower-middle class smartphone that the company has launched in Pakistan. The phone comes with a single option of 4GB RAM with 64GB internal memory and costs 25,999 PKR in Pakistan. The phone also has a 6GB model that the company recently launched in India, but is not yet available in Pakistan.

To watch the video, go to the end.

I’m not a big fan of notches, but the one in the middle of the top is much better than all those wide notches. Forget the perforator. I’d rather have a recess than a corner punch. Technically, the upper center is always the best place for selfish cameras.

The Vivo Y20 has a 6.51-inch screen, but only with an HD+ resolution of 1600×720. But companies know what their consumers think. They want a big screen, not a higher resolution for what they have in their budget bag. Many people don’t even consider the solution to be a key element when buying a phone. I prefer a screen size no larger than 6 inches. This would certainly make the 720p resolution more accurate.

But the 720p resolution on the 6.51 inch screen doesn’t make the 270ppi pixel density that bad. On the Vivo Y20 you can still enjoy an intense visual experience. Especially if it’s a phone worth rupees. 26000. Watching videos and playing games was pretty good on that screen.

The phone has a glass and plastic surface on the back. The frame is also made of plastic, but the surface is matt, so you can easily hold the phone with a handshake.

Personally, I like the quality of the design and finish of Vivo smartphones. Vivo Y20 is no different in this case. It is simple, but elegant and also very neat.

The Vivo Y20 is equipped with an 11 nm Snapdragon 460 chipset, the successor of the Snapdragon 450. The telephone is equipped with an 8-core processor with 8 cryo 240 cores. Four of them operate at 1.8 GHz, while the other four operate at 1.6 GHz. Adreno 610 graphic.

With the Snapdragon 460, the Vivo Y20 remains a low-power smartphone compared to other phones in this price range equipped with the MediaTek Helio G70 chipset. Combined with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of memory, the phone offers moderate performance for regular use, social networking and watching videos or movies.

With this phone you can enjoy the game. For example PUBG Mobile or Call of Duty in Smooth mode with the recommended settings. However, it does not have as much experience as other business phones based on the Helio G70.

If you are looking for a heavy gaming device at this price, you should look for others like Infinix Note 7, Tecno Spark 6 and Realme C17.

The battery is a gift from Vivo Y20. With the 5000 mAh battery you can easily get a good hour of backup during the day. With a 720p processor and a low-power display, they both save battery power for other important tasks.

But a 10 watt charge is there to disappoint you for 3 long hours to increase the battery by 100%. Vivo must have added at least 18 watts of fast charging support, as in the 6GB version in India.

The phone is equipped with a triple rear view camera with a 13 megapixel main recording device in combination with a 2 megapixel depth sensor and another 2 megapixel camera for super macro. At the front we have an 8 megapixel camera for selfishness.

These devices with two, three and four cameras in the mid-range of smartphones are usually tricks to attract consumers. The Vivo Y20 is no different, but thanks to the development of mobile cameras we have continuously improved mobile photography.

But the Vivo Y20 not only gives you breathtaking photos, but also a much better image quality in its price range. Color reproduction is dull in most conditions and you will not get any brightness in your images. The phone also has problems with the dynamic range, but the HDR function is adapted to this problem.

The bokeh mode is also very good because it allows you to capture good details with the super macro for close-ups. But I’d rather have an extra wide angle camera than a macro picture.

The Vivo Y20 can record 1080p movies at 30 frames per second, but has no stabilization. There is also a slow mode with 120 frames per second that records video at a resolution of 720p. Selfie, on the other hand, does not differ qualitatively from the main camera.

Conclusion

Vivo Y20 is certainly sold under his own brand name. Of course, the quality of the design and assembly will sell itself, but from the inside, there are undoubtedly more productive smartphones in this price range. It always depends on the personal decision about the brand and the price-performance ratio. The brand itself has its own value and Vivo is now one of the biggest brands in the country. So they have the right to sell their brand.

There is no doubt that the Vivo Y20 is built with the highest quality and craftsmanship. It is a much better choice than other competitors at this price. So the customer has the choice to have a brand with a quality product or an inferior brand with a powerful smartphone.

Vivo launched its new budget or lower mid-range smartphone Vivo Y20 in Pakistan a couple of days ago. The phone targets the youth as suggested by the company’s Y-series range of devices. We recently got our hands-on with the new Vivo Y20. Here is all that you need to make a decision for your next smartphone.

Vivo has been settled really well in Pakistan as the company has successfully built its brand value in the country. No wonder the company has done well in research & development and has brought up many innovations in the smartphone industry. The company has a portfolio of high-end and premium devices with the brand names of IQOO and NEX. However, in Pakistan, it focused on mid-range and budget segments.

The Vivo Y20 is just another budget or a lower mid-range smartphone that the company launched in Pakistan. The phone comes as a single variant of 4GB RAM with 64GB internal storage and it costs PKR 25,999 in Pakistan. The phone also has a 6GB model that the company launched in India recently but it’s not available in Pakistan yet.

To watch the video review, jump to the end.

I am not big fan of notches, but the one settled in the mid-top of the display is much better than all those wide notches. Forget about hole-punch, I’d prefer any notch than a cornered hole. Techincally, the top-center is always a best placement for selfie cameras.

Vivo Y20 features a 6.51-inch screen but only HD+ resolution of 1600×720. But companies know their consumer’s mind. It’s the large screen that they want, not the higher resolution for what they have in their budget pocket. Many even do not consider the resolution as a key element to buy a phone. I do prefer a screen size as large as not above 6-inch. That certainly would make the 720p resolution a sharper look.

However, 720p resolution on 6.51″ screen size making a pixel density of 270ppi is not that bad, frankly. You can still have a sharp visual experience on Vivo Y20. Specially when we are talking about a phone that costs Rs. 26000. Watching videos and playing games was pretty good on this screen.

The phone has a glass-like plastic finish on the back. The frame is also built of a plastic but it has a matte finish that leaves you with a handful grip of the phone.

I personally like the designs and the build quality of Vivo smartphones. Vivo Y20 is no different in that case. It’s simple but elegant as well as crafted carefully for handling.

The Vivo Y20 features an 11nm Snapdragon 460 chipset which is a successor to Snapdragon 450. The phone has an octa-core processor with 8 Kryo 240 cores. Four of them are clocked at 1.8GHz and other four are clocked at 1.6GHz. There is an Adreno 610 graphics rendered.

With Snapdragon 460, the Vivo Y20 is still an underpowered smartphone when compared to other phones in this price with MediaTek Helio G70 chipsets. Coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, the phone offers a moderate performance in regular usage, social media consumption and watching videos or movies.

With this phone, you can sure enjoy gaming. Such as PUBG Mobile or Call of Duty in a smooth way with recommended settings. However, it’s not that great experience as you may have with other budget phones powered by Helio G70.

If you are looking for a heavy weight gaming device in this price, you must look for some other, such as Infinix Note 7, Tecno Spark 6 and Realme C17.

Battery is a gift with Vivo Y20. The 5000 mAh battery is going to give you a good backup time of a day easily. Thanks to power efficient processor and 720p display – both will help conserving the battery for other important tasks.

But 10-watt charging is there to frustrate you for 3 long hours to get the battery up at 100%. Vivo must have added at least an 18-watt fast charging support, like in its 6GB variant in India.

The phone features a triple rear camera setup with a 13MP main shooter coupled with a 2MP depth sensor and another 2MP super macro camera. On the front, we have an 8MP selfie camera.

These dual, triple, and quad-camera setups in mid-range smartphones are usually the gimmicks to attract consumers. Vivo Y20 is no different but thanks to the mobile camera evolution that we have ever-improving mobile photography.

Still, Vivo Y20 will not give you some stunning shots but it delivers much better picture quality in its price category. Colour reproduction is dull in most conditions and you won’t have vividness in shots. The phone also struggles with the dynamic range but the HDR feature comes in handy for that problem.

Bokeh mode is also good as well as the super macro camera captures good detail in the close-up shots. But I’d prefer an ultra-wide-angle camera instead of a macro camera.

HDR OFF/ON

With Vivo Y20, you can record 1080p videos at 30fps but it does not have any kind of stabilization. There is also 120fps slow-mo mode that records video at 720p resolution. Selfies on the other hand are no different in quality from the main camera.

Conclusion

Vivo Y20 will certainly sell for its brand name. Sure the design and build quality will sell itself but from within, there is no doubt that better performing smartphones in this price category are available. It always depends on personal choice when it comes to brand and value for money. The brand name itself has its value, and Vivo is now among the top brands in the country. So they have a right to sell their brand value.

No doubt, Vivo Y20 is built up with quality and premium finish. It’s a much better choice than other competitors at this price. So it’s up to the customer, what they choose to buy – a brand name with a quality product or a less brand value with a performing smartphone.
